Craft Along: How to Use Your Thriving & Surviving DTF Box

Hi crafters! I'm Crystal, and if you've recently picked up the Thriving & Surviving Box, we are gonna have so much fun! Mother's Day is right around the corner, and this box is packed with trendy designs created with moms in mind. But don't worry—these are perfect for year-round crafting too!

Step 1: Prep Your Transfers

Inside your box, you've received a massive 22-inch wide by 80-inch long gang sheet packed with the hottest DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers of the season.

The first step is simple: unroll your gang sheet on a large work table and start cutting out these amazing transfers. Once they are all separated, it's time to plan your wardrobe.

Step 2: Choose Your Garments

Most of the designs in this box look fantastic on both light and dark-colored garments. However, keep in mind that a few specific transfers are designed exclusively for dark fabrics, while others shine best on light fabrics.

The best part? Crystal DTF transfers bond to almost any fabric, including:

• Cotton
• Polyester
• Poly-Cotton Blends

They are the perfect solution for customizing your everyday t-shirts, polo shirts, and even cozy hoodies and jackets.

Step 3: The 7-7-7 Pressing Method

Ready to press? Let's get to the fun part. For flawless application every time, just remember the rule of 7-7-7!

1. Set Your Heat Press

Turn on your heat press and set the temperature to 300°F and your timer to 7 seconds.

2. Pre-Press (7 Seconds)

Carefully align the collar of your garment so that it hangs just slightly past the edge of the heat press's lower platen. Pre-press the blank garment for 7 seconds. This crucial step takes out all the moisture and wrinkles from the fabric.

3. Position and Press (7 Seconds)

To ensure a proper instant peel, position your transfer quickly while the garment is still hot. Don't stress—just place it and press! Lock down your heat press on the transfer for exactly 7 seconds.

4. The Peel

As my kids like to say: "Rip it like a band-aid!" As soon as the heat press releases, grab the left corner of the transfer film and peel it swiftly up and to the right. It is very important to peel with confidence.

5. The Final Press (7 Seconds)

Cover your newly pressed design with the parchment paper that came included in your box. Press the design a second time for an additional 7 seconds to push the ink securely into the fabric fibers.

Pro Tip: Working with Half-Toned Designs

You might notice one design in your box looks a little different. It has been professionally half-toned by our design team! This specific style will work best on dark black or dark navy garments.

Don't panic: It's going to look a little funny at first, even right after you press it. But oh boy, once you peel that film, the magic happens!
