Start by pre pressing your blank for 7 seconds then press your DTF transfer with firm pressure at 300°F for 7 seconds, then peel the film while hot. Always re-press with a protective sheet for 7 seconds to lock in the design.
DTF transfers can be applied to almost any fabric, including 100% cotton, polyester, blends, canvas, fleece, denim, and even dark colors. This makes them more versatile than sublimation or HTV.
You only need a heat press and yes you can use a home Iron to apply DTF transfers. No special printer, inks, or pretreatment is required when you order CrystalDTF transfers.
Most designs don’t need layering because DTF can print full-color graphics in one transfer. However, you can press multiple designs separately if needed—just avoid overlapping too many layers.
No pretreatment is needed! DTF transfers come ready-to-press with the adhesive already built in. Just press and peel for instant results.
Store transfers in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. Keep them in an airtight bag or folder to prevent dust. When stored properly, they can last a lifetime before pressing.
DTF transfers are extremely durable and typically last 50+ washes without cracking or fading, often outlasting the garment itself. For best results and longevity, wash the garment inside out in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softener. Tumble dry on low, or for maximum life, hang dry. Never iron directly on the design.
We require high-resolution (300 DPI or higher) PNG files with a transparent background for optimal print quality. If you upload a JPG, any white area will be printed as white ink, which may not be your intention. While we accept RGB files, they will be converted to CMYK for printing, so providing CMYK files ensures the most accurate color match.
A "Gang Sheet" is a single roll of transfer film where you arrange multiple designs (which can be different images, logos, or sizes) to maximize the printable space. You pay for the total size of the sheet (e.g., 22 inches by a certain length) rather than for each individual design, which significantly lowers your cost per transfer when you have many small or medium designs.
DTF transfers have a very soft, lightweight texture, often described as having a "very soft hand." The design is flexible and moves naturally with the fabric, avoiding the stiff, thick, or plasticky feel that can be associated with older print methods or heavyweight vinyl.
The most common issues are related to your heat press settings. Please verify the following: 1. Temperature: Ensure your press is accurately calibrated to 300°F. 2. Pressure: You must use firm/heavy pressure. 3. Peel: You must perform an instant hot peel, meaning you peel the film off immediately after the initial 7-second press while the transfer is still hot. If the design resists the peel, re-press it for 3-5 seconds and try peeling again.
You should only use a protective sheet (like a Teflon sheet, thin cotton fabric, or parchment paper) during the final re-press step. This re-press is essential to lock the design into the garment fibers. Do not use a protective sheet during the initial 7-second press and peel, as it can interfere with the heat transfer and prevent the adhesive from fully bonding to the fabric.
No, there is no minimum order quantity! We specialize in custom solutions, allowing you to order a single transfer or as many gang sheets as you need. Our pricing is tiered, so ordering more transfers (especially by maximizing a gang sheet) will result in a lower cost per piece.
Yes, DTF transfers are incredibly versatile and can be applied to complex items like hats, shoes, luggage, and other non-flat surfaces. You will need a specialized heat press attachment (like a cap press) or a small, hand-held press to ensure you can apply the necessary firm and even pressure across the entire design area. The transfer requires consistent pressure and heat for a proper bond.
After the final re-press (using a protective sheet), let the garment cool down for 5-10 minutes before stretching, folding, or wearing it. This allows the adhesive to fully set and cure into the fabric fibers, which is essential for maximizing durability and wash resistance.
The most common issue is insufficient pressure or an inaccurate heat press temperature. DTF requires firm, heavy pressure. Use a laser thermometer to verify your press temperature is accurate, as the machine's display can be off.
Yes, always. Pre-pressing the garment (5-7 seconds) is crucial to remove any moisture or wrinkles. Moisture trapped in the fabric will turn to steam during the main press, which prevents the adhesive from bonding fully to the fibers.
The key is the final re-press and artwork preparation. After the film is peeled, repress with parchment paper or a canvas sheet for 5-10 seconds. This locks the transfer into the fabric texture, greatly softening the hand feel. Additionally, using negative space (halftones or distressing) in the design will prevent a solid ink patch.
This is usually a color profile mismatch. Most customer screens use RGB, but DTF printers use CMYK. We recommend converting your artwork to CMYK before uploading. If you submit RGB, our printer will automatically convert it, which can cause color shifts or dulling.
This is usually due to garment shrinkage or improper curing. Always pre-press to minimize shrinkage. More importantly, wait 24-48 hours after the final press before the first wash to allow the adhesive to fully cure and bond. Re-pressing with parchment paper after washing can often smooth out minor wrinkles.
